Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about books, shipping, and how it all works.
Under 10 minutes, start to finish. Choose a book type, share some details about the pet and their person, and answer a few simple questions. The AI writes all 20 chapters from there. Then comes the review step: preview the cover and a summary of every chapter, add a free dedication, and pick any upgrades before ordering. See our How It Works page for the full walkthrough.
Our AI was built in-house specifically to help bring a pet's story to life. The entire process is designed to make it as easy as possible. Just fill out the forms, answer whichever questions fit best, and the AI handles the rest! Every detail shared stays private and is only ever used to write the book.
Not at this time. Content is generated entirely from the answers provided. If the chapters and their summaries aren't right, select a different title and adjust the answers given for the questions chosen. Our Support team is happy to help with any questions.
All types! Dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and any other beloved companion. Every story is personalized around that specific pet and the person who knows them best.
No account or password is needed. To continue a saved book, go to Create a Book and enter the same email address used before. If a saved book is found, choosing Jump Back In sends a 6-digit code to that inbox, and entering the code picks up right where the book was left off. To check on an order, use Where Is My Order? with an order number and email.

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is an exciting computer technology that supercharges tasks. We designed ours to create 100% custom stories about the pet and their person. Think of it like a very talented author who can instantly write an entire book from the details they're given. So even though the story itself is fictional, the details provided are what shape it, which is why so much of it will closely resemble real life.
AI works best when the directions it gets are clear, short and specific. Strong "prompts" or directions help the AI understand exactly what is wanted, resulting in a better story. Long, strung-out directions are worth avoiding, as they increase the chance of the AI misunderstanding the key points.
Strong prompts are short, clear sentences with proper punctuation. Examples:
• "Max is a playful golden retriever who loves swimming."
• "Whiskers is a curious cat who naps in sunny spots."
• "Buddy is brave, loves car rides, and always greets visitors."
These work well because they're focused and easy to understand.
Weak prompts are long, rambling, and hard to follow. Example of what NOT to do:
• "so my dog max hes like really really energetic and he does this thing where he runs around the house and he also likes to eat treats and sometimes he barks at the mailman and oh he also sleeps on my bed..."
This is confusing because it lacks punctuation, has no clear structure, and includes too many random details.
• Use complete sentences with periods.
• Focus on 3-5 key traits.
• Mention one or two favorite activities.
• Keep it under 50 words.
• Use the pet's name.
Example:
• "Luna is a gentle tabby cat. She loves chasing butterflies in the garden. Her favorite spot is the windowsill where she watches birds."
All stories in our books are entirely fictional, created by AI using the real details shared about a pet and their person. The AI crafts imaginative adventures and narratives inspired by that pet's name, personality, and traits. Any resemblance to real-life events, people, or places is purely coincidental, the same disclaimer that runs on TV shows and movies. Think of it as a pet and their person starring in a fictional adventure all their own.
Children's Books are written for children 12 and under, tailored to each child's age based on the details shared. Memoir books are heartfelt dedications to our beloved pets, even those that have crossed the rainbow bridge. Adult Humor books are for adults (18+) and make perfect gag gifts for friends who use their pet as an excuse for everything.
All our books are printed in US Trade format (6" x 9"), which is a perfect size for reading and displaying.

Each book is 100% custom. Included are 20 unique and personalized chapters, all based on the information shared during the creation process. In a Children's Book each chapter is a standalone mini story, so that's 20 different stories to read to the little ones. In a Memoir or Adult Humor book, the 20 chapters build one cohesive story.

Since each book is custom-made and printed to order, we're not able to accept returns or process refunds on correctly printed orders. If a book arrives damaged or with a printing issue, reach out to our Support team with photos and we'll gladly arrange a replacement.
A printing defect means the printed book doesn't match the cover, title, and chapter summaries shown in the preview, or wasn't printed properly. That covers the wrong cover style, a missing or mismatched title, and chapters that arrive out of order, duplicated, or missing. It also covers physical faults like smudged ink, blank pages, crooked trimming, or a cover pulling away from the spine. Physical faults aren't limited to that list: if a copy arrives flawed in some other way, send photos and we'll make it right.
We stand behind the quality of our products. If a book arrives damaged or with printing defects, we'll replace it free of charge. Simply contact us at support@petstorypress.com within 30 days of delivery with photos of the issue.
